For noninfectious diarrhea in adults living with HIV/AIDS who are on ART*
Frequently Asked Questions
Who could benefit from taking Mytesi?
Mytesi is an antidiarrheal that has been specifically studied in and FDA-approved for adults living with HIV/AIDS patients who are on antiretroviral therapy (ART). Mytesi provides symptomatic relief of noninfectious diarrhea in these HIV+ patients.
If you suffer with diarrhea, you want relief. You want treatment with a low rate of side effects, no effect on viral load or CD4 counts, and no clinically relevant drug-drug interactions. You want Mytesi.
Can I take Mytesi with my antiretroviral therapy (ART)?
You can take Mytesi with ART. Mytesi has no clinically relevant drug-drug interactions so it won’t affect the effectiveness of your ART regimen.
Does Mytesi affect my HIV?
Mytesi has no effect on viral load or CD4 counts. Please see How Mytesi Works for more information.
What are the side effects of Mytesi?
In clinical trials, adverse events with Mytesi were comparable to or lower than those with a placebo. The most common adverse reactions occurring at a rate greater than placebo were upper respiratory tract infection (5.7%), bronchitis (3.9%), cough (3.5%), flatulence (3.1%), and increased bilirubin (3.1%).
How should I take Mytesi?
The recommended dose of Mytesi is one 125-mg delayed-release tablet, twice a day, with or without food.
How do I get Mytesi?
You can ask your doctor for a prescription for Mytesi. Mytesi is covered on most private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare plans.
It is Napo Pharmaceuticals’ goal to get Mytesi into the hands of any person living with HIV/AIDS who needs it. The Mytesi Savings Card and the NapoCares™ Patient Assistance Program have been created to help achieve this goal. Please see Mytesi Savings for more information.
How does Mytesi work?
