Natural Source and Sustainable Harvesting of Crofelemer

Crofelemer, the active ingredient in Mytesi, is a botanical (plant-based) substance that is extracted and purified from the red bark sap of the medicinal Croton lechleri tree in the Amazon rainforest.

Napo Pharmaceuticals (the company that makes Mytesi) has established a sustainable harvesting program for crofelemer that:

  • Uses fair trade practices by local peoples who have been collaborating with Napo for over 2 decades
  • Ensures a high degree of quality and ecological integrity
  • Has the benefit of sequestering CO2

A portion (2%) of Mytesi product profits will be donated equally to all of the countries and cultures that work with Napo to bring crofelemer to the world.
